Donkey Island

There are many islands and islets in İzmir. These islands have beautiful beaches and bays. We had the opportunity to visit some of these bays where transportation is provided only by tour boats. Our preferred boat tour was a tour that included Mavi Bay, Donkey Island and Makri Island. In this article, we will share the information about Izmir Poseidon boat tour and Donkey Island. Donkey Island General Information

After moving from the bay Maki Bay, or one of the normal conditions, such as the Winter Harbor or Coral Island to visit one of the 2 different points, but it is hectic at times during the migration.  We will be in this busy time so that we have lost the opportunity to see one of these places. Anyway, we were already informed of the 2 bays and the form of the island. Donkey Island on a pier and beach available. You can swim from the beach without jumping from the boat like in other bays. We wondered where the name of the island came from. They answered ” the water is so clean that donkeys could drink from this water”. That is why it is called Donkey Island, apparently.

Covered by the north winds, many water sports can be done under and over water. Especially the underwater diving spot. There are many private yachts here because it is a pier.

Coast and seabed covered with pebbles. At least this is the area we entered.

The seawater was clean and crisp as usual. Even if you don’t meet the underwater creatures that accompany you from time to time.

It’s hard to say the water level is shallow. The water is not too hot.

Where is Donkey Island? And How to get there?

Transportation is only provided by boat tours.

There is a shuttle service every morning at 8:30 for those who want to come from Izmir. After arriving in Cesme, take a boat and take the departure at 10:30. The tour costs £ 50 per person. Lunch at this price (Fish or Chicken grilled – Pasta and Salad) included.
